Take the guesswork out of researching fragrance materials with the Aromas de Salazar Master Material Library—a comprehensive reference built from my personal collection of over 1,000 raw materials used in professional perfumery.
Created as an educational resource for perfumers of every skill level, this library brings essential information together in one organized, searchable spreadsheet so you can spend less time searching and more time creating.
Each material includes detailed information such as:
- CAS Number
- Odor profile and scent characteristics
- Olfactory categories (Floral, Woody, Citrus, Green, Musky, Gourmand, etc.)
- Physical properties
- Typical applications in perfumery
- IFRA Category 4 restrictions and limits (where applicable)
- Safety and regulatory information
- Additional formulation notes and reference data
The library is also fully adaptable to your own collection and workflow. If you acquire a material that isn't already included, simply add a new row and place it into the category that best fits your organization. The spreadsheet has been designed to grow alongside your inventory, making it a living reference that can evolve as your perfumery journey progresses.
While this library is extensive, certain fields have intentionally been left blank—such as your average usage percentage, personal scent evaluation, perceived tenacity, odor threshold, and other subjective observations. Every perfumer experiences materials a little differently, and these sections are meant to encourage you to build your own reference over time. By recording your personal evaluations, the library becomes more than just a database—it becomes your own working encyclopedia of perfumery.
Whether you're building your first accord, developing a finished fragrance, or expanding your knowledge of raw materials, this library serves as an invaluable companion throughout the creative process.
This is the same working reference I use while formulating fragrances, continuously organized and refined to make finding information quick, intuitive, and practical.
With more than 1,000 materials included—and additional updates planned as the library continues to grow—this resource is designed to become one of the most valuable references in your perfumery toolkit.
P.S. If you purchase the beginner course on our Skool community, this will come complimentary. If you have purchased the beginners course, it will be accessible automatically in the course directly.
